Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family and founder of Duck Commander, passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 79. His family announced his death, noting that he had been battling Alzheimer’s disease and other health complications. Robertson died at his home in West Monroe, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on April 24, 1946, in Vivian, Louisiana, Robertson rose from humble beginnings to become a successful businessman and reality television star. He founded Duck Commander in 1973, turning his passion for duck hunting into a multimillion-dollar enterprise. His family’s life and business were later chronicled in the hit A&E series Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017 and became one of the most-watched nonfiction cable shows in history .

Robertson was also known for his outspoken Christian faith and conservative views, often sharing his beliefs through public speaking, books, and the family’s podcast, Unashamed. His son, Jase Robertson, revealed in December 2024 that Phil had been diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease, which progressed rapidly in the following months .

Tributes poured in from family and fans alike. His granddaughter, Sadie Robertson, shared that one of his final words to her was, “full strength ahead,” reflecting his enduring spirit .
